Join Chancellor James Moeser and President Emeritus William Friday for a
special brown bag lunch discussion of "Honor and Integrity at Carolina."
This is an extraordinary opportunity for faculty, students, and staff to
talk with university leaders about honor at Carolina. The conversation
begins at noon on Wednesday, October 15th in the Kresge Commons Room
(039) of the James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence in
Graham Memorial. We hope you will join us.

Monday 9/22
- 12 Noon - 2:00 pm:
- HonorCarolina Opening Remarks -- Join Chancellor James Moeser, Provost Robert Shelton, and other Carolina leaders as they inaugurate Honor and Integrity Week. The Pit
- Reaffirmation of the Honor Pledge -- Students are invited to re-affirm their commitment to the Honor Code by signing the new Honor Pledge. The Frank Porter Graham Student Union will gather signatures and create a poster commemorating Honor and Integrity Week that will be distributed to faculty, staff, and students. all students on campus. Students may also sign the pledge at stations in The Pit, the Frank Porter Graham Student Union, the James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence, the steps of South Building, UNC Hospital, the graduate and professional schools, and on South Campus
- Monument to Honor -- Faculty, students and staff are invited to participate in the construction of a temporary monument to honor. Top of the steps, Frank Porter Graham Student Union. Click here for photos.
- 7:30 - 9:00 pm:
- "The Day the Music Died: File Sharing, MP3s, Law and Ethics" -- Join Paul Jones, director of ibiblio, and friends, for a discussion of uses and abuses of file sharing, obtaining music on the internet, and current law. Law School Rotunda.
Tuesday 9/23
- 12 Noon - 2:00 pm:
- "Tuesdays with Friday" -- Join William Friday, UNC president emeritus, and photographer/conservationist Hugh Morton, author of "Hugh Morton's North Carolina," for a discussion of documentary photography and the ethical dimensions of Morton's work. Kresge Foundation Commons Room (039) James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence in Graham Memorial.
- "Ask the Ethicist" -- Should you tell when you spot someone cheating? Should you inform on a roommate who drinks too much? Is it ever okay to break the rules? Chuck Stone, the Walter Spearman Professor of Journalism, will lead a lively discussion of real-world ethical dilemmas. Students, faculty, staff are invited to bring a question about ethical conundrums in their own lives. The Pit.

- "What Wall Street Doesn't Teach You: Ethics in the Business World" -- A roundtable discussion with Board of Trustees members Tim Burnett, Jean Kitchin and Rusty Carter; moderated by Professor Robert Adler, Associate Dean, Kenan-Flagler School of Business. - "Storm the Dorm For Honor" -- Advocates for Honor will visit residence halls, student meetings, and other campus locations to talk about the new Honor Code and answer questions about the policy.

- "Finding Common Ground Between God and Evolution" -- Kenneth R. Miller, professor of biology at Brown University and author of Finding Darwin's God: A Scientist's Search for Common Ground Between God and Evolution, presents the John Calvin McNair Lecture on Religion and Science. - HonorCarolina Logo -- Display of submissions for "HonorCarolina" logo contest. Kresge Foundation Commons Room (039) James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence in Graham Memorial.
- In the Classroom -- Each professor has been asked to spend 30 minutes in one class this week on ethics.
- Talking Honor -- Professor Todd Tayor's English 29 class set out to document what student leaders have to say about the concept of Honor at Carolina. The result is a documentary video of student culture at Carolina in 2003. The film may be seen at Lenoir Dining Hall, the Frank Porter Graham Student Union, and the James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence.
